Hey everyone, sorry it's been a little quiet around here. After our gig last summer I took off to Europe. From July to November I stopped in Ireland 3 times, with trips to Germany, Italy, and Finland along the way. It was a pretty busy year, and this year is shaping up to be much the same. I'll be heading to Prague in May, and Ireland again in July/August. The travel schedule hasn't left a lot of time for other concerts.

But here we are with St. Patrick's Day around the corner, and the party schedule is filling up. We have a few slots open if you're still looking for a band for your party. ;) After that, we'll be returning to El Segundo for a concert in April. (More details will be posted here as the time draws nearer.)

In the meantime, I hope you've all had a great year so far, take care.

Hey everyone, I hope you had as much fun this weekend as we did. (Of course, if you saw us, you probably did!)
Here's a shot from Friday night's gig with Steve, myself, and Peter Romano on guitar. From 8 hours together on Friday to another 8 hours on Saturday we got a lot of good playing in. Now things are slowly settling back to normal, and we'll be gearing up for our concert on April 15. Till then, take care!

The show will be from 3 to 4:30pm. This is part of a concert series run by an old friend of ours, Eric Greenberg. It's been a few years since we last played in his concerts, so we're looking forward to returning. That's all for now, take care...

Well at least, I'm still celebrating the Lunar New Year. Hope y'all are having a good one!

A few quick announcements, I'll post more details as they become available.

We'll be playing at the Universal Sheraton on Friday March 16, 7-10pm.
Looks like we'll be at the Tam o'Shanter on March 17th, but details are sketchy still.

And we also have a show coming in April in El Segundo, be on the lookout for that!

In the meantime, I just met the fine folks of Culann's Hounds this week on their tour stops in LA. Great people, great music. We had a lot of fun jamming at the Celtic Arts Center on Monday, and their Wednesday show at Molly Malone's was a big hit. I've decided to hop on down to San Diego to join them for a couple of sets tonight, looking forward to trading a few more tunes.

So ... yes, Highland Sun has been down for a while, but y'know, the Sun also rises. Looking forward to lots more fun music this year, see ya soon!

Hey there everyone,
the folks at the pub have decided to change formats again, so we will not be playing there again for the foreseeable future. No gig on the first Friday of October. We'll keep you posted when our next public gig is set.
(And if you happen to have a favorite spot that could use some live Celtic music, let me know...)

we had a fine show tonight at McMurphy's, and raised a proper toast in honor of Ian. With the first Friday of next month coinciding with Labor Day weekend, we've decided to take a break and will return for the first Friday of October. In the meantime, be well...

For those of you who haven't heard yet, Ian passed away yesterday
afternoon. He had had a heart attack early Friday morning and then went
into a coma. A funeral will be held for him this Friday at 10AM in
Sylmar, please email me if you want directions/details.

Ian had been my music partner for fifteen years, without him we probably
would never have formed Highland Sun.

My friend Sasha just sent me this photo, thought I'd share it with you all. It was taken at the Highland Games at the Queen Mary February 19th. If you missed that, you missed a weekend full of great music and dancing! And of course, you missed one of your opportunities to see me in my Utili-Kilt, and to see Sasha expertly playing the bowlran, but luckily(?), that moment has been captured here for your enjoyment.

And no, the drinking horn in front of me was not being used as a tip jar, it was already occupied with far more important stuff...
